Aunjanue E. Taylor Aunjanue E. Taylor, an American stage actress and producer, has been known for her roles in the film Ray Undercover Brother as well as in The Mentalist. She earned the B.A. with a major in African-American Studies, from Brown University. Her MFA is in acting from Tisch School of acting at New York University. Aunjanue Lisa Ellis is a producer as well as an American actor active in the theatre, television and film. Her career began in theater and later appeared in several television series and independent and mainstream films. Her most famous role was Miranda Shaw in ABC's Quantico as well as in BET's epic show The Book of Negroes. Both of the roles she was praised by critics and received numerous awards and nominations, among them an award from the Television Critics Choice Award for the Best Actress. Her career began as an actor in the year 1995 as Ariel in The Tempest. On Broadway, she has appeared in Come and Gone A Winter's Tale Seeking the Genesis and Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Her film career is highlighted through her appearances in Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express, and The Help. In her television work, she's received praise for her part as a regular character on ABC's cop drama High Incident.
