An ex-fashion model of the top class at 5'10'' tall. Carey was an a fan favorite of the top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father, an accomplished scientist who won the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of Year award, is a highly respected geologist. In the course of his work, Carey was raised all over the world. As she was attending the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. A representative of Ford Model Agency in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. She briefly spent time and studied in Paris prior to returning back to New York. Her modeling and college career took off and she was featured on the covers of Glamour's and Vogue's and a variety of other magazines' covers. When she was modeling, she continued to study full-time for a literature major at New York University. As she studied acting in the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her enthusiasm for acting increased. In 1986, she got her first role in acting which was a part of Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. Her leisure time is spent ski, wind surfing as well as rock climbing, and white water white water rafting.
